GARDAI have smashed a Polish prostitution ring after an operation lasting several months.
Last night, two Polish suspects were being questioned by detectives after a series of raids in Dublin, Dundalk and Athlone.
The raids followed lengthy inquiries by detectives from the National Bureau of Criminal Investigation, based at Harcourt Square in Dublin.
During the searches gardai seized a number of items, classified as potential evidence, including mobile phones, computers and documentation.
A man in his late-20s and a woman in her early-30s were being held at Clondalkin garda station under Section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act, which means they can be held for up to seven days without charge.
