Two men to appear in court over drug hauls

TWO men are to appear in court this morning on drug charges following separate raids in Dublin over the past few days, writes Allison Bray.

A 44-year-old man is to appear at Dublin District Court charged in connection with the seizure of 10kg of a synthetic drug known as MEC, or methylethcathinone, worth an estimated €350,000.

The man was charged after gardai from the divisional drug unit at Store Street garda station raided an apartment at Slaney House, Gill Street, Dublin 1, on Wednesday night.

Last night, gardai from Swords arrested a male in his 20s in connection with the discovery of a suspected cannabis growing operation at a house in Saggart, Co Dublin.

During the search, gardai discovered about 300 cannabis plants with an estimated street value of €240,000.

The suspect is due to appear at Dublin District Court on Chancery Street this morning.
