Two men killed off motorbike in early-morning crash

TWO men have been killed off a motorbike in an early morning crash in Laois.

The collision between a van and a motorcycle happened at about 6am this morning on the main Carlow to Stradbally road, near the village of Arles.

The men, the driver and passenger of the motorcycle, believed to be in their late 20s or 30s, were killed in the collision.

They died at the scene.

The van driver was taken to the Midlands Regional Hospital Portlaoise but is not thought to be seriously injured.

The road at the scene is closed and diversions are in place.

The scene has been sealed off by gardai, causing severe tailbacks on the N80.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to the incident or anyone who was on the N80 between 5.30am and 6am to contact them at Portlaoise Garda Station on 057 8674100.
