Two men killed in NI road crashes

TWO men have died in separate road crashes in Northern Ireland.

The deaths take to 40 the number of people killed on the region's roads this year.

Jonesborough man Paul Connolly, 51, died after a two-vehicle collision on the Dublin Road in Newry at 9.20am on Wednesday.

The crash, involving a white Renault Trafic van and a red Nissan Micra Spirita car, happened between the Cloghe roundabout at the Forkhill Road and the border.

Elsewhere, a cyclist injured in a crash in Lisburn on Sunday has died in hospital.

Donal Lucey, 48, from Clonkeen in County Kerry, was struck on the Old Ballynahinch Road.

At this stage last year, 53 people had died in the roads in Northern Ireland.
