Two men were arrested after a car crashed after speeding through Cork suburbs packed with GAA supporters.

Miraculously, no-one was injured in the incident at 2pm yesterday, close to Pairc Uí Rinn, as gardaí responded to reports of residents hearing suspected gunshots in the Ballyphehane area.

The vehicle was driven at speed through the Boreenmanna Road area before the driver appears to have lost control and crashed at high speed.

The two occupants of the crashed vehicle were immediately arrested. No firearm was recovered at the scene. Investigations are continuing.
