TWO men have died in separate road accidents in less than 24 hours.
A man in his 20s was fatally injured following a road accident in the early hours of this morning when his car struck a wall in Shannon, Co Clare.
The accident occurred on the Sixmilebridge Road to Shannon at 4.30am.
The victim, who was travelling alone, was transported to the Mid-Western Regional Hospital in Limerick and a post-mortem was expected to take place later today.
The road was closed this morning for a technical examination and gardai were appealing for witnesses.
Meanwhile, in Co Westmeath, gardai are continuing to investigate the death of a motorcyclist following an accident in Rochfortbridge yesterday evening.
The accident occurred on the old N6 at Gaulstown between 7.45pm and 8pm.
The 36-year-old male victim was travelling on the N6 between Rochfortbridge and Milltownpass when his motorcycle struck a fence and stone pillar.
A post-mortem was expected to take place at the Midland Regional Hospital in Tullamore later today.
