Two men charged over €2m heroin haul

TWO men in their 20s were charged this morning in connection with the seizure of heroin with an estimated street value of over €2 million.

Brian Kavanagh (26) from Clonee, Co Meath, and Peter Murray (28) from Tyrellstown, Co Dublin, were charged with possession of heroin and possession with the intent to supply, and released on bail.



The 12kg of drugs were found when members of the Garda national drugs unit searched a number of cars and vans on the Naas Road, in Kill, Co Kildare, on Tuesday afternoon.



Four men were arrested at the scene but two were later released without charge.



So far this year, gardai have uncovered 33kg of heroin.
