Two men charged in connection with Derry mortar seizure

TWO men were charged tonight in connection with the seizure of four mortar bombs in Derry.

The pair, aged 35 and 37, were accused of possessing explosives with intent to endanger life, possessing articles for terrorist purposes and conspiring to cause an explosion.

They are due to appear before a district judge in Derry tomorrow.

Two other men are still being questioned about the bomb find in the city on Sunday night when police intercepted a van on the Letterkenny Road.

Four primed mortars were discovered in the back of the vehicle.
