Two men arrested in connection with armed robbery at pharmacy

The raid occurred at 8.30pm yesterday when two members of staff were closing up the business at Strand Road.

Two men have been arrested after a robbery at a pharmacy in Portmarnock.

The raid occurred at 8.30pm yesterday when two members of staff were closing up the business at Strand Road.

As they locked up they were approached by two men who were believed to have two handguns.

The culprits threatened the staff  and a scuffle ensued, with one pharmacy worker receiving minor injuries.

The raiders stole a watch from one of the workers and fled in a dark coloured car.

Local Gardai were alerted and recovered the car at Red Arches in Baldoyle and arrested two men aged 22 and 23 close by.

They are being detained under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State at Coolock and Swords Garda stations.

The culprits are described as both being  5'10" , one was wearing grey balaclava, hoody top and the second man was wearing a black balaclava which looked to be home made.

Gardai in Malahide investigating the robbery.
