Two men arrested in connection David Black shooting

David Black was shot as he drove to work last year.

Two men have been arrested in connection with dissident republican activity and the fatal shooting of David Black last year.

Mr Black, who worked as a prison officer, was shot dead on Lurgan on November 1 2012. The two men arrested are aged 21 and 34 and are being detained at Garda Stations in Cavan, where they can be kept for up to 72 hours.

The arrests were made today followed a series of searches carried out as part of an ongoing operation by the Special Detective Unit targeting dissident republicans and in particular their involvement in the murder of Mr Black.
