Two men have been arrested following a €420,000 cocaine seizure overnight.
The arrests followed a joint operation between the Garda Drugs & Organised Crime Bureau and the Special Crime Task Force shortly after 9pm on Thursday night.
During the drugs seizure a number of vehicles were intercepted by the organisations in the Blanchardstown area of Dublin.
An initial 4kg of suspected cocaine was seized in the first raid while subsequent searches in Cabra and Clondalkin uncovered a further 2kg of the drug.
Gardaí explained: “These operations use advanced analytical and intelligence methods to disrupt criminals and dismantle their networks.
“Drug seizures play a critical role in targeting the livelihood of criminals and reducing their ability to carry out illegal activities. Drug seizures also help protect communities from the devastating impact of drugs and the associated criminality.
An Garda Síochána estimated the drugs to have a street value of around €420,000.
The two men, who are 36 and 34 years old, are currently being questioned by gardaí at Blanchardstown Garda Station.
The pair are being held under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996.
