Two men who were questioned in connection to a fatal assault in Co Kerry have been released.

Gardai have now launched a murder investigation following a post-mortem conducted on the victim earlier today.

The victim, who was a man in his 20s, was found in the front garden of a house in Killeen Woods in Tralee at around 10.35pm on Wednesday.

He was rushed to Kerry General Hospital but passed away on Friday night.

Two men were arrested by gardai investigating the fatal assault.

The men, who are in their 20s and 30s, were detained at Tralee and Killarney Garda Stations.

They were both released earlier this evening and a file is being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
