Two killed in separate crashes
Two people have been killed in separate road crashes.
A man in his late 60s died when his car collided with a tractor on the N74 at Thomastown in Co Tipperary, at 5pm.
An hour earlier a woman in her early 60s died when she crashed into a railway bridge near Paulstown, Co Kilkenny.
Their deaths take the number of people killed on Irish roads so far this year to four.
Gardai said the man was travelling alone when his car collided with the tractor.
He was pronounced dead at the scene and his body removed to South Tipperary General Hospital in Clonmel.
The driver of the tractor was uninjured.
Elsewhere the woman was pronounced dead in St Luke's Hospital in Kilkenny after her accident.
Investigators have appealed for witnesses to both crashes.
