Two killed in Galway and Wexford car accidents

TWO men died on Irish roads last night in separate crashes in Galway and Wexford.

A 42-year-old pedestrian died after being struck by a car on the Barna to Spiddal road, close to Padracin's pub in Furbo, Co Galway, at around 1.30am this morning.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. The 19-year-old driver of the car was uninjured.

The road remains closed and gardai have appealed for witnesses to contact Salthill garda station on 091-514720.

Meanwhile, another man died after the car he was a passenger in crashed into the central median on the M11 southbound at 12.05am.

The accident took place at Ballyellen between Arklow and Gorey in Co Wexford.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene. Two other men in the car received minor injuries.

The M11 is closed southbound at the Arklow South exit and diversions are in place.

Witnesses are asked to contact gardaí in Gorey on 053-9430690.
