Two killed in car crash in Monaghan

Two men, aged in their 50s and 60s, were killed this morning in a fatal car collision.

The crash occurred in Carrickmacross, Monaghan at approximately 11am.

The men, who were both drivers and sole occupants of the cars, were fatally injured when their cars collided.

They were pronounced dead at the scene.

The road is currently closed for an examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators and local diversions are in place.
