Two held over stabbing death

A man and a woman were arrested today over the death of a young Polish man earlier this week.

The couple were detained in a morning raid in Newbridge, Co Kildare.

The 21-year-old died after suffering a stab wound at a house he was renting in the Moorfield Park area of the town on Monday.

It is understood he had been living with his family in the area for a number of years.

The two arrested - a 46-year-old man and 40-year-old woman - were being held in separate Garda stations under section four of the Criminal Justice Act.

They can be held for 24 hours.
