Two held over foiled tiger raid

A MAN and woman were last night being questioned by detectives investigating a failed attempt to extort €3m from bank official and former Kilkenny hurling star Adrian Ronan last November.

The man, in his 30s, is being held under Section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act and the woman, in her 20s, is detained under Section 30 of the Offences against the State Act at Kilkenny garda station.

The gang had been forced to flee empty-handed when the tiger raid fell apart.

So far 16 people have been arrested in connection with the incident. No one has been charged.
