Two held after drugs seized in car

Two men are being questioned over the seizure of drugs valued at 100,000 euro.

Detectives attempted to stop a car at Pouldine, Thurles, Co Tipperary, yesterday afternoon but were forced to give chase when it failed to stop.

Gardai caught up with and stopped the vehicle a short distance away on the flyover of the Cork to Dublin motorway.

Cannabis resin and cocaine was recovered, estimated to have a street value of 100,000 euro.

A 45-year-old man was arrested in the car while a 31-year-old who tried to flee on foot was tracked down and also detained.

Both are being held at Thurles Garda Station under section 2 of the Drug Trafficking Act.

Gardai said the operation was carried out as part of an ongoing operation targeting the sale and supply of controlled drugs in the Tipperary area.
