Two employees at Passport Office arrested over 'irregularities'

GARDAI this evening have arrested two people as part of an investigation into irregularities at the passport office.

A man and a woman, both in their 30s and both employees at the Passport Office were arrested.

The woman was taken to Pearse Street Garda Station where she was detained under Section 4, Criminal Justice Act, but has been released this evening.

A file will be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.

The man remains in custody in Pearse Street Garda Station detained under Section 4, Criminal Justice Act.

These arrests are part of an ongoing investigation being conducted by the Investigation Section, N.B.C.I. into Fraudulently Obtained Irish Passports.
