Two elderly women killed within minutes of each other in separate incidents on Ireland's roads

Two elderly woman have been killed in two separate fatal incidents on Ireland's roads this afternoon.
In Tipperary, a woman in her early seventies was killed after she was struck by a lorry in Carrick-on-Suir.
The collision occurred at approximately 1pm on Wednesday at Townspark, Carrick-on-Suir on the Limerick to Waterford Road(N24).
The woman was fatally injured and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Gardai are now investigating the fatal incident and have appealed for witnesses to contact them.
The road is currently closed to facilitate a forensic collision examination and local diversions are in place.
It is expected that the road will remain closed for a number of hours.

At approximately the same time, a woman in her early eighties was killed after she was struck by a car on the southbound carriageway of the N11 N11 close to Cabinteely Village, Dublin.
She was pronounced dead at scene. Her body has been taken to Saint Columcille's Hospital, Loughlinstown. A post mortem is to be arranged.
The N11 Southbound carriageway is currently closed at Cornelscourt to facilitate Garda Forensic Collision Investigators and diversions are in place.
