Two die in separate road crashes

TWO women were killed in separate crashes in Co Carlow and Co Roscommon yesterday.

A woman was killed at a busy pedestrian crossing yesterday after she was hit by a truck in Carlow.

The pedestrian, in her 30s, died in the incident at Thompson's Corner in Carlow town at 11am.

The truck was stationary at the traffic lights and only pulled out when they turned green, gardai said. Anyone with information on the incident is asked to contact Carlow (059-9131505), the Garda Confidential Line (1800-666-111) or any garda station.

Later, at around 4.15pm, in a single vehicle crash at Carskeagh, Frenchpark, Co Roscommon, a 65-year-old woman died when the car in which she was travelling hit a ditch. A 53-year-old male had been driving.
