Two arrested as bomb-making components found in Monaghan

TWO men have been arrested by gardai investigating dissident republican activity.

Gardai in Monaghan stopped a van in Monaghan Town shortly after midnight this morning.

During the course of searching the van, components for bomb making, were discovered by the Gardai. These items and the van were seized for technical examination.

Two men aged 25 and 50 were arrested and are currently being detained at Monaghan Garda station under the provisions of section 30 Offences Against the State Act 1939 as amended.
