Two arrested after valuable paintings slashed at 5-star Dublin hotel

TWO men have been arrested by gardai investigating damage caused to two valuable paintings in Dublin's Shelbourne Hotel.

The works of art in the luxury hotel on St Stephen's Green were slashed on January 8 last.

Gardai in Pearse Street investigating the incident arrested two men yesterday morning, a Garda spokesman said.

A man in his late 40s and another man in his late teens were apprehended in the Dublin area and detained under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 at Pearse Street Garda Station, he added.

They were scheduled to appear in the Criminal Courts of Justice this morning charged in relation to the incident.
