Two arrested after gardai discover €56,000 worth of cocaine in taxi

Cocaine with an estimated street value of €56,000 was seized when gardai stopped and searched a taxi in South Dublin today.

The occupants of the vehicle were arrested when members of the Organised Crime Unit carried out the search operation on the Greenhills Road in Tallaght.

Two men, aged in their 30s and late teens, were taken into custody and are currently detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996, at Tallaght Garda Station.

Enquiries are ongoing as part of an investigation targeting the sale and supply of drugs.

The men can be held for up to 7 days without charge.
