Three turkeys made a desperate break for freedom yesterday, ahead of the Christmas chop.

The feathered friends were spotted near the Parkway Shopping Centre in Limerick, waddling nervously alongside traffic as they surveyed their escape route.

One seemed to be keeping a look out as the other two planned where to flee next. At one stage the threesome looked like contemplating scaling a wall to freedom.

The birds have just 32 days left to keep a low profile or possibly end up as this year's Christmas dinner.
