Now in its fourth year, the Toy Appeal initiative was born out of the Tubs for Toys project and the campaign sees toys donated to Irish charity St. Vincent de Paul (SVP), which are distributed to thousands of struggling families nationwide ahead of December 25.

Last year’s Toy Appeal saw some 65,000 toys donated and this time around, Tubridy and his team are hoping to collect over 80,000 gifts.

“It means a huge difference to kids and families around the country. No child in the country should be unhappy on Christmas morning, so an extra €10 or €15 could make that day for a kid as magical as it should be,” he told the Irish Independent.
