Triathalon: almost no effort required

IF you like the idea of doing a triathlon, but are put off by all that exercise, why not enter the fifth annual fun mini-triathlon in Sandycove, Co Dublin, in aid of the Irish Cancer Society, at 11am on Saturday, November 13.
Contestants must dip a toe (gingerly) in the Forty Foot, saunter (leisurely) up to Teddy's famous ice-cream shop in Dun Laoghaire for a 99, and then cycle (or get a crossbar) back along the seafront. Last year the event raised almost €40,000 and this year they're hoping for even more.
To get a sponsorship card, ring Christy Dunne on (01) 289-6673 or contact the Irish Cancer Society. Or, in keeping with the unrushed pace of the event, you can just turn up at the Forty Foot before 11am on the day itself.
