HIS inherent conservatism is exasperating some of the Irish football community, but Giovanni Trapattoni still has his fans.
The Ireland manager drew a sizeable crowd as guest of honour at the opening of the all-weather multipurpose pitch in Rivermeade estate in Fingal, north Dublin yesterday afternoon.
And, unlike criticism of his recent team selections, he didn't ignore the younger people present, happily signing autographs for the likes of Ryan Murray Burke.
The Italian's appearance came just hours after the disappointing home defeat to Norway.
