Trail of blood leads gardai to gunman
A TRAIL of blood led gardai from a house party to the home of a gunman who -- armed with a telescopic rifle -- had opened fire on the gathering, writes Barry Duggan.
A 34-year-old man is expected to be brought to Limerick District Court today after he opened fire with a stolen gun on a party in Lord Edward Street in Limerick city over the weekend.
Having failed to gain entry to the party, the assailant returned a short time later and opened fire on the front door.
He suffered a deep wound to his hand when he attempted in vain to gain entry to the house, leaving a trail of blood behind him as he walked to his home in the city.
