THE remains of tragic Elaine O'Hara have finally been buried in the cemetery where she was last seen in 2012.

The 36-year-old childcare worker's body was found in the Dublin Mountains six months ago.

By chance, several items belonging to her were found near Roundwood, Co Wicklow, in the days before and after the discovery of her remains.

There had been no trace of her since August 22, 2012, when she was seen at Shanganagh Cemetery in south Dublin visiting her mother Eileen's grave.

Last week, Elaine's family buried her in a private ceremony at the plot.

Her father Frank was one of the chief mourners.

PRIVATELY

The family issued a short statement that said Elaine's funeral had taken place privately.

“Her family would like to thank everyone for their understanding, kindness, and continued support. May she rest in peace,” it read.

Architect Graham Dwyer (41) of Kerrymount Close, Foxrock, has since been charged with Elaine's murder.

He is in custody awaiting trial, and last year lost a Supreme Court appeal to be released on bail while the opening inquest into Elaine's death heard that a cause of death had not been established.

Dwyer's trial at the Central Criminal Court is due to proceed in April next year.
