Tragedy as trainee jockey Ryan Cusack is killed while cutting trees
A TEENAGER has been killed cutting trees in Co Limerick.
The 17-year old trainee jockey from Murroe, Co Limerick, died after he fell from a trailer attached to a tractor.
The young man has been named locally as Ryan Cusack.
He was due to celebrate his 18th birthday next Wednesday, February 26th.
"Rest In Peace 17 year old Ryan Cusack from Co Limerick who was tragically killed this morning in an accident at Bruree, Co Limerick," the Irish Pony Club said.
"Ryan was a regular and popular rider at horse and pony racing mainly on the North West circuit for a couple of seasons. Our sincerest condolences to all Ryans family and friends."
Gardai confirmed it happened at around 11:45am this morning at Howardstown House, a stud farm owned by Irish horse trainer Enda Bulger.
It is located between Athlacca and Bruree in South East Limerick.
The young man's body has been removed to University Hospital Limerick in the city where a post mortem is due to be carried out on the remains.
Gardai at Bruff and the Health and Safety Authority are investigating.
A Garda spokesman confirmed the deceased was attending a jockey training centre in Murroe, Co Limerick.
