Gardai advised motorists to avoid the M1 Belfast-Dublin road southbound this morning following a crash between two lorries.

The incident occurred on the M1 Belfast-Dublin road north of Junction 6 Balbriggan.

But motorists experienced severe delays in the surrounding areas as well.

The two heavy-good vehicles were pictured at the scene on the southbound road.

Drivers contacted Independent.ie to report severe delays and "crawling traffic".

Gardai confirmed to Independent.ie that nobody suffered any injuries in the collision.

Dublin Fire Brigade reported crews from Balbriggan, Skerries and Swords attended the crash.
