DUBLIN's Aviva Stadium has been honoured by the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) for its outstanding design and ability to fit into the existing landscape. The stadium is one of 97 buildings across Europe named yesterday as winners of the 2011 RIBA Awards.
Designed by Populous and Scott Tallon Walker Architects, it is designed to be a good neighbour and to have low levels of noise break-out and of light spill at night.
"We are delighted with the award for both the stadium and our architects," stadium director Martin Murphy said. "We have just celebrated our first birthday by hosting the UEFA Europa League Final. It has been a great first 12 months for the stadium."
