Toll firms to get €8m compensation

TAXPAYERS will have to fork out more than €150,000 a week in compensation to two private toll operators next year as traffic volumes tumble. Almost €8m will be paid to the companies, which built the Limerick Tunnel and the M3 motorway in Meath.

The National Roads Authority guaranteed a certain number of vehicles would use each route, but the the numbers have not been reached. It has set aside almost €8m for 2013, €1.5m more than was paid this year.

No winner of €2m midweek jackpot

SATURDAY'S lotto jackpot is heading for €2.5m after there was no winner of the €2m prize in the midweek draw.

The numbers drawn were 16, 26, 29, 30, 36 and 41. The bonus was 21. There was no winner of the top prize in the Lotto Plus One draw. The numbers were 8, 12, 19, 20, 28 and 29. The bonus was 33.

There was no winner of the top prize in the Lotto Plus Two draw worth €250,000. The numbers were 3, 6, 8 ,16, 44 and 45 and bonus 38.

Clarification: Butt Drama Circle

IN relation to our report in the Irish Independent on Saturday, October 27, concerning an industrial tribunal case alleging constructive dismissal by Ms Lisa Finn headlined 'Ex-theatre worker left in tears after rows, court told' we have been asked to clarify that the case is against Balor DCA Group Limited at the Balor Theatre, Ballybofey, County Donegal and not the Butt Drama Circle Co Ltd at the Balor Theatre.
