A toddler died when she got trapped between an upper bunk bed and the bedroom wall while staying for a couple of nights with her father and his partner.
An inquest heard that when little Abbi Cummins died in Co Westmeath in March last year she was just two days short of her third birthday.
Abbi, who lived with her mother Amy Cummins at Croke Villas, Ballybough, Dublin, was pronounced dead at the Midland Regional Hospital in Mullingar on March 10, 2012.
Sophie Casey, the partner of the child's father, Ken Fitzpatrick, recalled that on March 9, she put Abbi to bed in the lower tier of the bunk bed.
The next morning when she went into the room Abbi was stuck between the top bunk and the wall.
They then called 999, and as she administered CPR, Mr Fitzpatrick ran to seek help from neighbours.
The jury recorded a verdict in accordance with the medical evidence.
