The deadly feud between the Christy Kinahan drugs cartel and associates of Gerry Hutch starts when Gary Hutch is shot dead after returning from a jog at his apartment complex in Miraflores, Spain on the Costa del Sol.
The nephew of Gerry 'The Monk' Hutch was shot three times in an execution-style attack that has since been linked to the Kinahan gang.

Michael Barr is shot dead (34) at the Sunset House pub on Summerhill Parade at 9.15pm. He was shot three times, at least once in the head, and was pronounced dead at the scene. He was a dissident republican who may have been supplying weapons to the Hutch mob, according to sources. It is also understood he was an associate of one of the shooters at the Regency Hotel in February, who has been nicknamed ‘Flat Cap’. Barr, who was originally from Tyrone, had been living on Dublin’s northside and was a major target for the Special Detective Unit.

Senior associate of the Hutch gang, convicted armed robber Keith Murtagh (32) suffered a grazed arm when a gunman opened fire on a house in Cherry Orchard Court, Ballyfermot, in the early hours of last Saturday morning. A woman who was in the house at the time also suffered minor injuries to her leg. Gardai believe that Murtagh was the intended target when a hitman mistakenly shot dead innocent drug addict Martin O'Rourke in the north inner city last month. Detectives are now investigating if this latest attack is linked to the ongoing Kinahan/Hutch feud, which has claimed six lives in eight months. It is believed that Murtagh was targeted because of his association with members of the Hutch gang.
