Thrilled mother finds late daughter's ‘Matilda Doll’ after social media campaign
The heartbroken mother who lost her late daughter’s doll at Dublin Zoo is “thrilled” at finding the “Matilda doll”.
Mum Claire Gray said she was overjoyed when she received a call to say that the doll was found in Phoenix Park.
The toy was given to Matilda Gray shortly after she was born in July 2013 and was vital for mum Claire as she dealt with her daughter’s death just three months later.
The family lost the doll while on a day-trip to Dublin Zoo last week and made heart-breaking appeals to the public to help find it.
Claire said that getting the doll back means “everything” to her as it “filled her arms when they were empty and ached.”
“We haven’t got Matilda doll back yet but she has been found and we’re thrilled,” said Claire.
Claire said she’s so thankful to everyone who spread the message that the “Matilda doll” was missing and helped to bring her home.
“Every day and night I have to live without Matilda and it’s horrendous. I know I can’t have Matilda back, but having her doll back means everything,” she said.
