Three-star hotel treatment for this high-profile guest

THE THREE-STAR hotel where Jennifer Lauren found herself last night hosts a large collection of aeronautical memorabilia sure to remind the jewellery designer just why she was there.
RAF uniforms and countless pictures of planes adorn the walls of the Oakwood Arms Hotel in Shannon, in tribute to the nearby airport's pioneering days. Ms Lauren had committed to Judge Patrick Durcan that she would spend the night in the three-star hotel where her travelling companion had also stayed while she was in custody at Shannon station.
The hotel is close to Shannon Airport, where Ms Lauren was arrested on Monday afternoon following an air-rage incident.
After appearing at Killaloe District Court yesterday morning, Ms Lauren travelled straight to the hotel, spending the afternoon in the lounge, Sophie's Bar, with friends.
The hotel, which has more than 100 guest rooms, was offering a January special of €69. However, for a little more luxury a suite was available for €115.
The hotel's Pier 17 Restaurant was offering an all-inclusive, four-course dinner menu sporting duck, steak or salmon for €25 with a €5 supplement for the steak.
Ms Lauren spent most of the afternoon in the hotel, which includes a gym, sauna and steam room.
She left only to sign on at Shannon garda station.
