Three quizzed as gardai hit cannabis gang

DETECTIVES have smashed a major drugs gang after a 24-hour operation.

Three people were being questioned last night after the cannabis seizures in Donegal and Sligo.

The operation began on Monday night when a man and a woman were stopped at a garda checkpoint on the N4 near Ballymote in Co Sligo.

They were arrested after cannabis estimated to be worth around €80,000 was found in their car.

Gardai then began an overnight operation to trace cannabis linked to the seizure.

And yesterday afternoon, detectives seized 1.2kgs of cannabis from a house on the outskirts of Milford, Co Donegal. Both finds are being linked to the same drugs gang.
