GARDAI have arrested three men and launched investigations into three separate shooting incidents.
One happened just before 8.30pm last night on the street at Hazelbury, in Clonee, Dublin 15.
A garda spokesman said that around three rounds were fired into the air. It is understood there was an argument on the street prior to the incident.
And a man in his 30s has been held for questioning after shots were allegedly fired at the back of a house in Carlow town in a separate incident.
It is understood that it was part of an altercation between warring neighbours.
And in another gun-related incident, traffic corps gardai seized a loaded shotgun after stopping a Land Rover at a speed check.
Routine
The officers halted the Freelander vehicle shortly after midnight yesterday during a routine check on the N11 at Donnybrook on the southside of Dublin.
Gardai became suspicious while questioning the driver and decided to carry out a search. They found the fully loaded double barrelled shotgun in the rear of the vehicle.
Two men are being questioned at Donnybrook garda station. One of the suspects, a 26-year-old man, is from Arklow while the other is a 44-year-old man from Rathgar and is well-known to gardai.
Gardai said last night they had established that the shotgun had been used an hour earlier in an attack at a house in Wicklow town.
A man was lying on a couch in the house at Ocean View when his front door was hit by a shotgun blast. Officers are now trying to determine a motive for the attack.
