Three men arrested in connection with €1m drugs seizure

Three men have been arrested following a €1m drugs seizure in Co Louth.

As part of an intelligence led operation, gardai from the Garda National Drugs Unit stopped a car in the Drogheda area yesterday afternoon.

A 28-year-old man was arrested and a quantity of drugs seized.

As part of a follow up operation this morning a second car was stopped and an apartment searched.

Two further males were arrested (one in his 30’s and one in his 50’s) and a further quantity of drugs seized.

In total cannabis herb, cannabis plants, cocaine and heroin with an estimated street value in excess of €1m was seized.

The 28-year-old is scheduled to appear before a Special Sitting of Ardee District Court at 3pm today charged in connection with this seizure.

The two other males remain in custody at Droghada Garda Station under the provisions of Section 2 of the Criminal Justice ( Drug Trafficking) Act 1996.
