THE two women and a man who died in a house fire early today were members of the same family, it has been confirmed.

The names of the 75-year-old husband, his 77-year-old wife and their 34-year-old daughter have not been released as relatives are being informed.

The bodies of a couple have been removed from the scene at Lisnabrack in Leitrim.

RTE News reports that someone driving past the house saw the fire and called the emergency services at 2:20am.

Fire units from Manorhamilton, Sligo and Carrick-on-Shannon fought the blaze.

They found the family, who were well known in the area, in a search of the two-storey house.

Manorhamilton Sinn Féin Councillor Seán McSharry described the fire as a “terrible tragedy”.

Investigations into the cause of the fire are under way, but it is not believed to have started deliberately.
