Three dead, seven hurt in crash

Three men were killed and seven others injured when a hackney cab collided with a car.

The crash happened near Garryduff on the main N21 Limerick to Kerry road last night.

The dead men, all in their 30s, were all passengers in the cab and died at the scene.

A Garda spokesman said the accident happened on a stretch of road a few miles from Newcastle West at about 9.10pm.

The dead men had been in a people carrier hackney cab with three others when it collided with a car carrying four people.

None of the seven others were believed to be seriously injured.

The deaths bring to 150 the number of people killed on the country's roads this year, official Garda figures showed.
