Three charged over robbery at shop in capital

THREE men arrested in connection with an armed robbery at a shop have been charged.

The trio were arrested after a Centra on Tower Road, Clondalkin, Dublin, was held up.

A gang of three men armed with an imitation firearm and knives threatened staff during the incident at around 8am on Sunday.

They made off on foot with cash and cigarettes. No injuries were reported.

Three men, all in their 20s, were arrested near the scene a short time later. An imitation firearm, two knives, cash and cigarettes were recovered.

Investigating gardai said a car, believed to have been stolen in Lucan earlier and used in the incident, was also found.

The men were being held at Clondalkin garda station. They will appear in Blanchardstown District Court on January 24.
