Two men and a woman, all aged in their 20s, have been arrested by gardai following a robbery at a shop in Cork yesterday.

Two masked raiders entered a shop on St. Marys Road in Cork City at 4.25 yesterday afternoon.

One of the raiders, armed with a hammer, threatened the female shop assistant and forced her to hand over cash from the till.

The raiders then ran down Strawhall onto Farran Street, where they made their escape in a small silver hatchback car.

Gardaí later intercepted the car at a location nearby.

The individuals were detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.

All three have since been released without charge and a file is being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
