Three arrested over suspected arson attack as pensioner fighting for life in hospital

THREE men have been arrested in connection with a suspected arson attack in Drogheda in the early hours of this morning.

The three men, two aged in their 30s and the third in his 40s,  were arrested this evening in Drogheda.

They are being detained under the provisions of section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act at Drogheda Garda station.

The injured woman was transferred earlier today to St James Hospital where her condition is described as serious.

A man who helped rescue to woman is also being treated for burn injuries, however his injuries are not life threatening.

The house is on Chord road, Drogheda and the fire was spotted at about 1am this morning.

It is understood the woman was asleep in the house when the fire broke out.
