The mercury is rising! Sizzling temperatures of 22 degrees to hit the country

While tonight and tomorrow are expected to see occasional heavy showers - as well as some good sunshine - the mercury will rise early next week.

Today, temperatures will rise to between 15 and 19 degrees but occasional heavy showers may occur later on.

Tomorrow will be a bright and sunny day with temperatures of 16 to 20 degrees.

Then Sunday will see good sunshine over much of the country, though there will be heavy thundery showers in the afternoon.

Temperatures will rise to between 18 and 22 degrees on Monday, though there will still be a risk of thundery showers.

Tuesday is expected to be warm and sunny and similar temperatures of 19 to 22 degrees will see the country bask.

Wednesday will be warm and sunny in the south, but outbreaks of rain will hit the northern half.
