THE family of Thomas 'Tommy' Kennedy have renewed an appeal for help to find the 81-year-old grandad.

His grandson, Ross, said: "He's the most gentle, quiet man I know. We all just want him back home and safe."

Described as 5ft 3in tall and of slim build, he was last seen on July 29 at around 9.30pm at Virginia Park in Finglas, Co Dublin.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Finglas garda station at 01 6667500 or any garda station.

€38k seized at port

Revenue seized more than €38,000 in cash when they searched a passenger exiting a French ferry.

The customs service at Rosslare Europort made the discovery when they stopped and searched a Polish national in his 30s yesterday.

Revenue sniffer dog, Alfie, selected the man, who was carrying the cash and also had cash in his luggage.

Yesterday evening in Gorey District Court, officers were granted a three-month detention order to carry out further investigations.

No brothel comment

A GARDA spokesperson has refused to comment on claims that a garda's bag containing a laptop and documents was found in a brothel in Amsterdam.

An article in yesterday's 'Sunday World' claimed that a chief superintendent had been appointed to investigate after the items were discovered by a brothel owner and turned in to local police.

The item was allegedly returned to Garda Headquarters in Phoenix Park and will be returned to the garda at a future date.
