Leo Varadkar: On Manchester terror attack: "It was a cowardly attack on innocents and on freedom."

On Sinn Féin:

"Sinn Féin is the greatest threat to everyone's prosperity, including its own supporters, and it is not yet a truly democratic party."

On the campaign:

"I learned how to hone a message, to run a professional campaign.

"You've seen that in action in recent days."

On people who get up early in the morning:

"I am talking about people who work in the public and private sectors, commuters, the self-employed, carers who look after loved ones, parents who get the kids ready for school, people who volunteer in their communities."

Simon Coveney

On Varadkar:

"Someone who knows to keep a minority government together because he helped to put it together."

"If I'm taoiseach, I'll remember Leo has unfinished business in health."

On Politics:

"Society in Ireland has lost faith in politics."

"I am in politics to bring people together to unify communities not dividing them."

On Fine Gael:

"The man in a sleeping bag may never vote for us but do we not have a responsibility to help him?"

"I'm the underdog in this race, I'm not used to being in that position and I'm not happy about it."
