Tuesday night's Euromillions jackpot is headed for an astonishing €140m; this is the biggest jackpot on offer so far this year.

The last time the Euromillions jackpot was higher than €140m was November 20 2015, when the €163 million jackpot was won by a ticket holder in Portugal.

A total of 400,000 tickets were sold on that November 20, with over a quarter of those sold in the 90 minutes before the deadline. Tonight’s deadline is 7.30pm, but if you can’t make it to the shops before that you can always play online or on the app.

There have been nine Euromillions winners in Ireland so far, the biggest being Dolores McNamara from Limerick in 2005, who won over €115 million. Irish players win over €100,000 on average in cash prizes each week. And, so far, players in Ireland have won over €839 million in prizes since 2004.

The odds of winning a prize for a Euromillions line will be 1 in 13 when the new game enhancements are introduced.

The new ‘must be won’ Pan-European raffle will offer more than a million to 25 different players, and the Ireland-only raffle will create more than 1,000 winners of a guaranteed €5,000 per year.
